Richard W Stevenson

Richard Stevenson is a widely experienced company director and strategy consultant operating in capital intensive industries and specialising in the business application of System Dynamics (SD). He has had a long career in strategic management building from an early start in management science and progressing through wide ranging strategic planning projects and extensive international strategy implementation in challenging overseas environments.

Richard founded Cognitus in 1991 as a niche Systems Dynamics strategic consultancy. The company specialised in the application of SD in strategic management projects in ‘capital industries’ where SD is a natural method to rationalise and harmonise resource management strategies over long time periods. Cognitus has more experience than any other UK firm in the application of SD in the private sector and has a very strong international reputation.

As SD established its market place position, Richard developed a far wider vision for the application of SD as an approach integrating strategic dynamics, balanced performance management and corporate value planning. Armed with an extensive Cognitus IP inventory built on blue chip client work in the utilities, pharmaceutical, oil & gas and heavy process industry sectors and a worldwide network of the best SD professionals, Richard co founded Valculus to capitalise on the latent market demand for integrated value planning tools and methods.

John F King

John King is a Chartered Accountant with over twenty five years’ experience working at all levels of financial and business management across a wide range of industry sectors. He has operated at senior levels in both line management and consulting capacities.

John spent 12 years in management consulting with Pricewaterhouse Coopers where he was an integral member of a global team responsible for bringing its Value Based Management offer to market. He was closely involved with developing the overall market offer, production of thought leadership publications, designing enabling technology solutions and implementing VBM in selected major blue chip clients. John was specifically responsible for pioneering the early role of Strategy Dynamics in value management with Richard Stevenson from Cognitus Ltd.

Since 2000 he has specifically focussed his career on the development and commercialisation of early stage technology businesses. John has successfully founded a number of successful new ventures including one AIM listed flotation. Co-founding Valculus represents the natural fusing of John’s value management background and vision with his business development expertise in early stage knowledge businesses.
